Police say three armed robberies in Riverdale occurred within 12 hours and just a few blocks from one another.
The most recent robbery happened around 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Park Terrace Unisex Salon on Riverdale Avenue.
Owner Stella Panpazopoulis says a man she thought was a client politely asked for her money while stuffing his hands inside a bag and insinuating he had a gun. The man was about to get $280, but he ran off and the owner gave chase. The man fell around the corner, Panpazopoulis says, but she was able to get a good look at him and his car as he fled.
The first robbery happened at a Dunkin' Donuts around 3:30 a.m. The second was at DJ Drugs around 9:30 a.m.
Police say they're looking for a heavy-set Hispanic man with dark hair and glasses who drove a maroon Jeep. They say Panpazopoulis' description matches the suspect wanted in the other robberies.
Police sources confirmed to News 12 that the same man is behind three other armed robberies in the area last month. Those include a Burger King, Kidsville and Subway restaurant on the last two Sundays of May. Altogether, they say the suspect has made off with more than $2,000.
