A Bronx man says he was blindfolded and tied up in his own home while men ransacked his apartment and stole thousands of dollars’ worth of his belongings.
Allen Gillard said that last Wednesday he walked into his Grand Concourse apartment and was attacked by two men who tied him up and threatened to kill him if he looked at their faces.
According to police, those men also hit him over the head with a gun.
The victim says the suspects made off with thousands of dollars’ worth of designer clothes and jewelry that he collected over the years.
Police say his attackers blindfolded him, and eventually forced him to answer a phone call from a friend who said he was downstairs.
Police say that man made his way to the apartment and was tossed to the ground by the criminals inside.
Officials say he was punched in the ribs and back and had his wrists and ankles tied by extension cords.
Gillard says he doesn’t know what the suspects look like because he was focused on staying alive.
He believes the men broke in through his window.
News 12 has since received communication from the building’s management that reads, “The building's management is not privy to the details of this active police investigation. The building's video surveillance system and entrance locks were fully functional and operative at the time of this incident. In fact, management provided the video surveillance footage from the cameras in the building to NYPD detectives upon their request."
