Mayor Bill de Blasio's approval rating has gone up for the first time in recent polls.
A new Quinnipiac University poll finds that 50 percent of voters approve of his job at City Hall, while 42 percent disapprove. That's up five points from an October poll.
Looking ahead to the 2017 race for mayor, de Blasio is stacking up well against some names we might see run against him.
De Blasio would get 44 percent of the vote against Scott Stringer, 50 percent if he was up against former Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, and 22 points ahead in a race against Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., with all three potential candidates running as Independents.
The same poll also asked if Ray Kelly or Bill Bratton is more effective as police commissioner, and 44 percent gave their support to Kelly. Only 30 percent sided with Bratton.
