Popular Bronx restaurant reopens in Brooklyn
A beloved Mexican restaurant that closed in the Bronx has reopened in Brooklyn.
Chef Lina Chavez was forced to close El Atoradero restaurant's former location in Mott Haven due to tight space and rising rent prices.
The restaurant was named one of 2014's "Best Cheap Eats" by New York Magazine.
"We had a lot of people waiting in line and we didn't have tables," Chavez says. "It made me upset."
Chavez's loyal customers refused to see El Atoradero disappear.
Food blogger Noah Arenstien and two other Brooklyn residents are the backers of Chavez's new venture, now located on Washington Avenue.
"I think she's so passionate and her standards are so much higher and you can kind of feel it in the food," Arenstein says.
