An art education program has brought some students’ artwork to the lobby of Montefiore Medical Center in Pelham Bay.
Studio in A School is a program that brings art education to schools across the city. The program also brings artists into schools to teach the students expression through art.
"Studio in A School has really been a blessing," says state Assembly member Michael Blake.
When people walk into the medical center’s lobby, the first thing they encounter are the colorful pieces done by the students, which brings some joy to a sometimes dreary place.
"For us this partnership is really magical because we have the ability to take a place like Montefiore Medical Center that is known for healing and connecting it with the beauty of art that is also known for healing," says incoming President of Studio in A School NYC Alison Scott-Williams.
"It really makes your heart full you know this is showing when you invest in young people what is possible," Blake says.
