The mother of a Bronx man shot and killed by a police officer in 2012 renewed her demand for his dismissal from the force Thursday.

Earlier this week, federal prosecutors ended their investigation into Richard Haste in the shooting death of Ramarley Graham, citing a lack of evidence that the officer willfully deprived Graham of his civil rights.

Graham's parents say the decision not to pursue civil rights charges against the officer is a "slap in the face." Family members and supporters rallied outside City Hall Thursday to demand Haste's firing.

In a statement, Mayor Bill de Blasio's office said that an internal NYPD disciplinary process would move forward now that the federal investigation has ended.

"These officers should not be running around with a gun or a badge," Graham's mother, Constance Malcolm, said at the rally. "It's time to fire Richard Haste." 

As News 12 has previously reported, surveillance video of the incident shows Haste breaking through the front door of Graham's Wakefield home moments after the teen fled inside.

A short while later, Haste shot and killed Graham in the bathroom.
