Residents had the chance to enjoy the first-ever Native American Festival at Fordham University on Saturday.
The purpose of the event is to celebrate indigenous people and their culture.
Native Americans performed traditional dances, told stories and spoke to event-goers about traditional Native American garb.
Organizers say the festival gives people a chance to learn about different tribes.
Men and women, young and old performed during the festivities. They also set up booths to sell items highlighting their culture and laid out authentic food for people to try.
The event was held during Native American History month and organizers say they plan to make this event an annual one.
