Shooting victims remembered at community skateboarding event in Hunts Point
Skateboarders gathered for an event in Hunts Point on Saturday to relax and enjoy some barbecue, but the victims of this week's shootings were on people's minds.
A moment of silence was held at the event for those lost this week in multiple shootings around the nation.
Pastor Reggie Stutzman of Real Life Church in Hunts Point says he organized the event in the hopes of bringing the community together amid recent tensions in the country. He invited skateboarders from across the city and some were even flown out from around the country.
Stutzman says similar events will be held to help spread a some positivity in the neighborhood.
