Bronx residents are finally getting a skateboard park, after being promised one by the city for more than 10 years.
In 2003, city officials told Bronx residents they'd make major improvements to city parks, which included new football fields, basketball courts and a skateboard park in Williamsbridge Oval.
According to Community Board Seven and Eight, everything that was promised was done late and over budget, leaving no money left for the skate park.
Two years ago, Community Board Seven worked with skaters to push for money from the city to build the long-overdue skateboard park.
Their efforts have apparently paid off. The vice president of Community Board Eight told News 12 the finished park should be completed by May of 2016.
