Brazilian soccer superstar Ronaldinho appeared for a surprise back-to-school welcome to dozens of students at M.S. 129 Tuesday.
The FC Barcelona Foundation sponsored the event as part of its "FutbolNet" programs, which aim to promote youth values through sports.
The school, which previously had no soccer team, is hoping to add one now that it has built a small field.
The FCB Foundation says it will host more events in the United States as an extension of its partnership with UNICEF.
