St. Frances de Chantal school collects 1M soda tabs for charity
Students at St. Frances de Chantal school in the Bronx collected over a million soda can pull tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.
The school has been collecting tabs since 2011 as part of the Ronald McDonald House Pop Tab Collection Program.
"It feels amazing, it really is something that we've been going for,” said Melissa Dean Minuto, a teacher at St. Frances de Chantal who organized the collection. “And everywhere I go, I'm always asking people for tabs and it's really such an amazing feeling to say we finally did it."
Once the tabs are collected, they will be recycled. The funds generated from recycling will be donated to the charity.
The Ronald McDonald House charity provides a "home away from home" to families with terminally ill children.
Anyone who wants to take part in the Pop Tab Collection Program can do so by saving their soda tabs in a container and dropping them off at the school.
