Many students will be going to school virtually this year, but students and parents at Storefront Academy Charter Schools are getting to meet their teachers in person first.
Thursday’s event was called ‘a socially-distanced greet-n-go’ and was meant to bring the school community together in person before classes start online.
The event was held at the school’s Bronx campus, as well as at its Harlem location.
As of now, all of the school’s 360 students will be going back to school with a blended plan of half-at-home and half-in-person, but administrators are hoping to transition to an all virtual model as soon as the state approves it. The assistant principal says they’ve done this event for years and are happy to keep it going with the new safety measures in place.
The school will also hold a virtual version of the event for those who didn’t feel comfortable coming out today. School is set to start again classes for this school will start on Sept. 10.
