Thunderstorms overnight knocked out power for thousands of people and also created delays on the roads, especially on Route 36 in Union Beach.
The winds nearly knocked down the telephone pole and wires at the intersection of Route 36 northbound and Stone Road, creating traffic delays.
If you live in the area, head to Route 35 in Middletown to avoid the traffic mess. All of the traffic is being funneled into downtown Union Beach.
