A group of local community officials were some the first to come to the aid in Puerto Rico following this month's string of earthquakes.
Deanne Criswell, commissioner of the New York City Emergency Management, said 28 people from the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, NYC Emergency Management and the NYPD headed to Puerto Rico.
Criswell said the team supported logistical operations and worked with communities to move supplies. She said one of the things they are doing alongside the Department of Buildings are inspections.
There is not much visible damage to Puerto Rico’s capital, San Juan. Most of the damage is located in the southern part of the island.
