Police have arrested a suspect in the rape and robbery of a woman in Mott Haven last weekend.
Tyreke Schenholster, 30, has been arrested on charges of rape, robbery, criminal use of a firearm, criminal sexual act, sex abuse and menacing.
Police say just before 7 a.m. Sunday, a 27-year-old woman was walking near the corner of St. Ann's Avenue and East 135th Street when Schenholster approached her.
Authorities say the woman was forced into a nearby building and then forced to perform a sex act, raped and had $40 taken from her.
The victim was treated at NYC Health + Hospital and was released.
Schenholster was walked from the special victims precinct Wednesday evening with his head down and was unresponsive to questions.
