Wake held for Halloween crash victims
Wake services were held Friday for two victims of a Halloween crash in Morris Park.
Family and friends gathered at McNulty Funeral Home on Middletown Road for wakes for Louis Perez Jr., 65, and his granddaughter Nyanna Aquil, 10.
Perez, Aquil and a third victim, Kristian Leka, were killed last Saturday when a Dodge Charger jumped a curb and struck a group of trick-or-treaters.
Since the tragedy, the family has raised more than $50,000 through a GoFundMe page to cover funeral costs.
Aquil's family asked that attendees wear sky blue in her honor.
Perez is remembered as a selfless man who would have done anything to protect his family.
A funeral for the two victims will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Harvest Fields Community Church on East Tremont Avenue.
