It's science, math, music and communications all in one after-school program at a Bronx school put together by a Bronx native and DJ.
The Whutever It Takes DJ Academy in Melrose is an after-school program where turntables take the place of notebooks, and DJ Whutever is the teacher.
“People get inspired because they watch what the DJs do and learn it and might want to do it when they get older,” says DJ Whutever.

The after-school classes are two hours long at P.S. 1X for grades three to five.
“The things that they're able to do in just a matter of three weeks of what I teach them, I’m like ‘don’t take my job,’ you know,” says DJ Whutever.

DJ Whutever grew up in the Bronx, taught himself how to DJ and is now featured on Power 1051, IHeartRadio, z100 and also at Mets games.

The Bronx-native can now add creator of the 12-week DJ program to his resume.

Future DJs or not, DJ Whutever says the students are learning to take control of the turntables here and in the future.
At the end of the 12-week program, the students will essentially DJ a party at the school showing off what they've learned.
DJ Whutever also says many other schools across the city are now interested in the DJ academy.
