It was a wild scene in Bay Ridge Thursday morning after a yellow cab crashed into a Carvel ice cream shop — and the incident was caught on camera.
It happened just before 8 a.m. at the corner of 86th Street and 3rd Avenue.
Surveillance video shows the cab speeding down 86th Street, taking a wide right turn onto 3rd Avenue and sideswiping a car in the opposite lane.
From there, it clipped a bus stop sign — then plowed straight into the Carvel storefront.
Moments later, the driver reversed the car and pulled back onto the street.
FDNY says it got the call at 7:51 a.m. and confirmed one person was taken to NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn.
Neighbors say that person was the driver and was described as an older man who lives in the area.
“It’s unbelievable,” said Marianna Sonitis, who lives nearby. “The whole front of the store is gone. This actually happened to another store in the neighborhood about a year ago.”
Another neighbor, Lily, said she was shocked.
“We’ve gone to that Carvel before, and I know someone who works there. It’s just like — wow. I’m glad nobody inside was hurt," she says.
City crews have posted a partial vacate order on the Carvel due to damage to the storefront.
