Police say a homicide investigation is underway after they were called to an affordable housing apartment in Brownsville where a baby boy was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

The boy has been identified as 1-year-old Anthony Casey.

Police say they were called to Newport Street in Brownsville just before 5 p.m. in the evening on Friday. They say Casey was unresponsive when they arrived. EMS took him to the hospital where he later died.

Sources tell News 12 Casey was later found to have trauma to the stomach.

Sources also say the child's mother is denying involvement in the death at this time.
