The group Mothers Against 1900 Seminole Avenue held a car parade to protest a plan to house formerly incarcerated inmates in an empty section of a local hospital.

Protesters drove their cars around NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi with signs saying, “No to 1900 Seminole.”

Families who live in the neighborhood say they do not want former inmates living within walking distance from their schools and homes.

Some protesters say they would rather see the space be used for other purposes, such as a women's center, senior housing or a cancer center.

One activist told News 12 they are not against inmates wanting a better life, but says they should be housed somewhere better than this neighborhood to get the accessible help they need.

“They should be around universities…where they can get mentored somewhere, where they can get the help they need to become somebody. Not to stay in this neighborhood, where it'll be hard to get the resources and mentors you need,” the activist told News 12.

There will be a board meeting at the hospital Tuesday to discuss the plan.

News 12 reached out to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi for a comment on the group’s concerns.
