Riverdale community, Dr. Clarence B. Jones recognized for impactful roles in March on Washington
As the nation mark's the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington, Dr. Clarence B. Jones and the Riverdale community were commemorated Wednesday for their contributions and work with Dr. Martin Luther King.

The March on Washington took place 60 years ago, and civil rights icon Dr. Clarence B. Jones and the Riverdale community were commemorated for their contributions to the march on Wednesday.
Jones played a significant role in helping Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. write his iconic "I Have a Dream" speech in Riverdale. Command Post North was the secondary name for Jones' home, where King planned and wrote the speech.
The celebration of Jones and the Riverdale community took place at Manhattan College's library. Jones, who was King's lawyer and confidant, was honored for his life's work fighting for equal rights.
An official statement in the congressional record celebrating Jones and the Riverdale community was presented by Rep. Ritchie Torres.
