Councilmember Amanda Farias hosted the first Bronx Metro-North public workshop in Parkchester on Tuesday night.

The workshop was held ahead of the state’s Penn Access Project, which is designed to expand transit equity to the eastern Bronx.

Bronx residents showed up to share their ideas of what they want to see come from the state’s project, which is expected to be completed in 2027.

Currently, there are four new stations being constructed in the east Bronx – at Hunts Point, Parkchester/Van Nest, Morris Park, and Co-op City.

Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson says it’s aiming to change the area from being a transit desert to an access point for Bronx residents.
