Claremont residents are voicing concern about the lack of crosswalks and signals at the busy intersection of East 170th Street and Teller Avenue.

The Department of Transportation plans to install curb extensions, adjust signals and add crosswalks to make the area safer. These improvements are scheduled to begin in 2025.
Meanwhile, Con Edison is working on a construction project at the location to replace old, leak-prone gas mains with new ones. A Con Ed spokesperson tells News 12 that the upgrade will reduce methane emissions and improve safety.
