In a little over a month, two water main breaks flooded The Bronx in two different but busy corridors: Ogden Avenue in Highbridge and Webster Avenue in Bedford Park.

As the Highbridge community begins to bounce back, the Bedford Park neighborhood continues to struggle with dozens of local businesses still closed, including the U.S. Post Office at 2963 Webster Avenue.

Water came flooding in on Dec. 16 to Webster Avenue between E. 201st Street and East Moshulu Parkway South. One of the lasting effects can be seen in a sign on the door of the post office notifying customers of its closure.

Neighbors say this location is a crucial and convenient resource that they hope to see reopen soon.

In the meantime, residents can use the Fordham Road location at 465 East 188th St. The U.S. Postal New York office told News 12 it is working on repairs and expects to finish in the next three to four weeks, welcoming Bronx residents back soon after that.

The Department of Environmental Protection said the broken pipe was from 1890.
