Morris Park streets lined with revelers for Columbus Day Parade
This year’s 48th annual Columbus Day Parade was filled with sights and sounds, but for many, the most important aspect was continuing the yearly tradition.

The streets of Morris Park were filled with spectators as people marched in the annual Columbus Day Parade.
Among the groups marching was Preston High School. Cielo John, a senior at the school, shared her thoughts on the significance of the event.
"It’s not my last parade at another school, it’s not my last parade in another town, it’s my last parade with Preston, as it should be, and I’m very happy this is it," said John.
The Bally’s Foundation purchased the embattled school earlier this year for $8.5 million. It will lease it back to the Sisters of Divine Compassion for just $1 a year.
John reflected on the importance of this year’s parade, not just for the holiday, but also because her school is able to participate without the threat of closure.
"It feels great that we still get to be a part of the community, as Preston always has been and will continue to be for years to come," she said.
