Bridgeport community leader Carolyn Vermont remembered as 'gigantic force for good'

"I got to know Carolyn Vermont well over the decades, seeing her at literally hundreds of events, from Hartford to Greenwich -- and of course in Bridgeport, where she devoted so much of her worthy energy and leaves a timeless mark on the countless hearts she's touched there," Blumenthal said.

When Carolyn Vermont, 65, passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 19 while visiting her family in Jamaica, the longtime CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County left behind what Sen. Richard Blumenthal calls "a towering legacy."

Mayor Joe Ganim called Vermont "a great friend to Bridgeport and Connecticut."

"Carolyn was not only a personal friend but a trusted resource for countless families over the years who benefited from her remarkable work at Habitat. Carolyn Vermont will be deeply missed," Ganim said.
