Marine stranding experts are working on a plan to remove a deceased whale found floating in the Newark Bay Thursday.
The Marine Mammal Stranding Center said it is working with the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society, as well as local, state, and federal agencies, to develop a recovery plan to remove the whale from the Newark Bay and identify a suitable location to tow it.
“Both organizations are currently assembling a team to facilitate the necropsy. Our teams will be in the field working on this active situation,” the Marine Mammal Stranding Center said on Facebook.
According to the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the National Park Service, and NOAA are among the agencies working together to remove the whale.
As of now, the length and species of the whale have not yet been confirmed.
