A person was injured during fire at a fifth-floor apartment Sunday afternoon in Claremont.
Firefighters received the call of the fire at 538 Claremont Parkway at around 2:21 p.m.
Crews battled heavy smoke and flames once they made it inside.
They also found one person trapped on the fifth floor.
"The victim was unable to get out without fire department help," said Fire Battalion Chief Pat Keena.
The status of the victim was unknown as of Sunday evening. A neighbor told News 12 they saw firefighters remove someone on a stretcher.
Some neighbors watched crews work through the debris.
Hamed Saadeh, who owns a business on the first floor, was seen cleaning up the shattered glass that spread across his storefront.
"This is really sad. I was worried, I put my life here, actually, in the building," he said.
Saadeh owned the insurance company for 32 years.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
