A reported bomb threat prompted a police response at Moorestown Upper Elementary School on Monday, but officials later determined the threat was not credible following a thorough investigation.
School officials said established safety protocols were immediately put into place while police assessed the situation on campus.
Authorities stressed that all threats are treated with the utmost seriousness, even when they are later determined to be a hoax.
Superintendent McNeely said school administrators had already been in communication with the Moorestown Police Department due to a significant rise in school‑related bomb threats across Burlington County.
Officials said more than 20 such incidents have been reported countywide, prompting the development of a response plan before Monday’s incident.
School officials emphasized that the safety and security of students, staff, and the community remain the top priority.
Parents and guardians were reminded not to come directly to the school during an active incident, as doing so can divert law enforcement resources from emergency response efforts.
Officials said if an evacuation were ever required, a structured reunification process would be put into place at a designated location with clear instructions provided by school officials and law enforcement.
