Update: As of Friday morning, Eversource is reporting 0 outages and and UI is reporting one outage.

Hundreds of Fairfield residents were left without power on Thursday evening after a tree snapped and fell to the ground, bringing several power lines down with it.

The tree fell on Crestwood Road at the intersection of Brookmere Drive.

"I'm just roaming the streets of Fairfield in my air-conditioned car," said Cristy Dow, who lives nearby.

United Illuminating did not provide an estimate for when the power would be restored.

Driving over downed power lines is considered dangerous, and people are warned to keep a distance of at least 30 feet from them.
