Mayor Zohran Mamdani and NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch outlined the city’s security plan on Wednesday, as preparations are underway to celebrate America's 250th birthday.

The jam-packed weekend includes the parade of tall ships on Friday and Saturday, as well as the annual Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks on Saturday night.

City officials said New Yorkers should expect to see a large police presence and go through security checkpoints.

The NYPD said they’re deploying thousands of both uniformed and plain-clothed officers, its counterterrorism unit, K-9s and bomb squad, as well as the aviation, drone, and harbor teams.

Tisch said the city remains on high alert.

“There are no known specific or credible threats to this year’s celebrations,” said Tisch. “Our intelligence division, our joint terrorism task force, and our counter terrorism teams continue to monitor every possible lead both domestic and international in real time.”

Tisch added that the NYPD will be monitoring drone activity throughout the weekend.

Meanwhile, officials urged anyone who plans to attend the weekend events to use public transportation.
