New affordable housing complex opens at site of massive 2015 Bridgeport fire

Jillian Baldwin says that Hanover Homes is made up of three multi-family houses, with each home containing three apartments. "One of the most significant parts of this achievement is that three of the new units are handicapped-accessible, as there's an especially serious shortage of ADA units here in Bridgeport," Baldwin said.

Eleven years after a devastating residential fire left dozens of Bridgeport residents displaced, a new affordable housing complex opened at the site.

"It's nothing short of a miracle every time we are able to add new affordable housing to our grid -- and Hanover Homes here on Hanover Street in the beautiful West End is definitely one of those miracles," said Jillian Baldwin, executive director of Park City Communities, the Bridgeport Housing Authority.

Baldwin says that Hanover Homes is made up of three multi-family houses, with each home containing three apartments.

"One of the most significant parts of this achievement is that three of the new units are handicapped-accessible, as there's an especially serious shortage of ADA units here in Bridgeport," Baldwin said.

Nobody was hurt in the 2015 Blaze at 350 Hanover St. The fire jumped from one home to several others and left dozens of families displaced.

Mayor Joe Ganim said the new complex represents a long-term investment for Bridgeport of $10 million.
