2 men sentenced for staging car crashes on NYC highways
Police say the men staged three crashes in 2024, where Murillo would merge in front of a victim, slam on the brakes and cause a crash.

Two Brooklyn men convicted of staging car crashes on city highways have learned how long they will spend in prison.
The district attorney says Jaime Huiracocha, 53, was the organizer of the plan and received a two- to four-year sentence in prison.
Victor Murillo, the 34-year-old driver, got a two-year sentence.
Police say the men staged three crashes in 2024, where Murillo would merge in front of a victim, slam on the brakes and cause a crash.
The duo also enticed other people to join with promises of cash payouts, the DA says.
“Those people faked their injuries with the expectation of a payout,” says Queens DA Melinda Katz. “During each staged crash, the occupants in Murillo’s car exited the vehicle and held their necks or their backs in very exaggerated motions.”
Both men previously pleaded guilty.
