If you bought a Ford in Fairfield County over the past 50 years, chances are you bought it from Chris McMahon.

After decades helping countless drivers, the beloved owner of McMahon Ford says he's closing his Norwalk shop as the Ford Motor Company consolidates locations across America.

"The last couple of weeks, I’ve had a lot of customers coming in saying: ‘remember, I bought my first car from you back in 1985?" McMahon says. “That’s why it’s bittersweet for me... I’m going to miss dealing with all of our really, really nice customers here."

The business has been a staple in the community for decades, and its unique building is hard to miss while driving along Main Street.

“I have customers weekly - almost daily - that tell me how much they love this building," McMahon says. "It’s retro... it takes them back in time."

McMahon says he'll miss building and fostering relationships within the community.

Meantime, loyal customers are having a hard time saying goodbye.

"You know the people, they've been here forever," says Mark Baker, of Ridgefield. "You know them personally… so it hurts more to say goodbye."

The future of the space is still being determined.
