Many residents celebrated the second day of Kwanzaa on Sunday by coming out to the Brooklyn Children's Museum in Crown Heights.

This was the 13th annual Kwanzaa celebration at the museum where kids got to learn about the principles of Kwanzaa through music, dance and storytelling.

They got to join in on the fun at a social distance by learning about the seven principles that make up Kwanzaa.

Performers banged their drums loud and proud, as kids watched in awe listening to traditional African music and hearing to African folktales that have been around for generations on end.

Event organizers said this year involved even more planning to follow COVID-19 guidelines.

The lesson for the kids centered on the meaning of self-determination.

Organizers say self-determination is what the second day of Kwanzaa is all about, learning how to believe in one's self.

They hope kids take these lessons and use them in their everyday lives.
