A Bronx woman is in critical condition at St. Barnabas Hospital after police say her husband stabbed her multiple times in their Bedford Park home before fleeing to New Jersey with their 3-year-old daughter.
Police lifted an Amber Alert on the missing girl after New Jersey state troopers found and arrested her father.
New Jersey State Police say troopers from the Bloomfield station spotted the pair driving on the Garden State Parkway in Clifton, New Jersey, and pulled over the car.
Rebecca Valenzuela, 3, was inside the car and is now safe. Police arrested Diomedes Valenzuela, who they say is now cooperating with detectives.
Diomedes Valenzuela remains in New Jersey police custody. He is a former Irvington Township, New Jersey, police officer, according to the town's pension page and other government records. He retired due to health reasons.
Officials say Rebecca is doing OK.
