The Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit opened on Saturday in the Commack High School parking lot.
The mobile museum arrived in Commack on Friday, escorted by fire engines and motorcyclists.  The 83-foot tractor-trailer features World Trade Center steel, the aluminum facade from the Twin Towers, radio transmissions from first responders, and items found in the rubble after the collapse.
The mobile exhibit was founded by the Stephen Siller Foundation in 2013 as a tribute to all those who died at the World Trade Center, including 343 FDNY firefighters. The foundation says the best way to honor the fallen is to teach the living to never forget.
Community leaders from Commack asked the Siller Foundation to bring the exhibit to Long Island in hopes of inspiring and educating residents.
Tours of the exhibit were given by FDNY firefighters who responded to the World Trade Center attacks, including retired FDNY firefighter Steve Casquerelli, of Valley Stream.
The exhibit will be open on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Commack High School parking lot.
