9/11 Memorial & Museum to receive $2.2M for free admission program expansion
The announcement comes on the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced on Friday that the 9/11 Memorial & Museum will receive $2.2 million in funding to expand the free admission program for New Yorkers.
The program currently offers those who live and study in the state free afternoon admission on the first Sunday of each month.
The funding will provide New Yorkers with free admission every Sunday.
This new version of the program will begin in October and continue for one year.
The announcement comes on the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
Hochul says it is important to give the public opportunities to visit the museum and reflect on the history.
“By expanding New York First Sundays to include every Sunday throughout the year, we are ensuring that more New Yorkers can experience the museum, honor those we lost, and reflect on the courage, resilience and unity that sustained our state and our nation on one of our darkest days,” she stated.
Museum President & CEO Beth Hillman expressed gratitude for Hochul’s support and thanked her for her commitment.
“By expanding to every Sunday throughout the year, thousands more New Yorkers will be able to visit and reconnect to the sense of community that we all felt after the attacks,” she said.
