"Stop the Chop NY/ NJ" is advocating for non-essential flights to be banned over New York City amid the recent crash.
That would include commuter flights and tourism flights, like the one that claimed the life of a family of five from Spain.
It tells News 12 there’s a bill in City Council that if passed, would prohibit all non-essential, non-electric helicopter operations at heliports owned or operated by the city.

Members of that group, like Kenneth Lay, say less changes made he fears it’ll continue to happen.
“It will happen again for sure. There's always an opportunity to end it. And I think the fact that it's allowed to continue is just outrageous. There’s no reason at all for any of this, and now this family has died. It’s a huge tragedy,” said Lay.
Mayor Eric Adams said in a press conference there will be conversations around the usage of the sightseeing tours.
