An affordable housing lottery is now open for a building in Highbridge.
According to NYC Housing Connect, applications are being accepted until Oct. 6 for 1258 Shakespeare Ave. The website shows there are 19 one-bedroom apartments available, with a monthly rent of $3,126 for incomes between $107,178- $165,230.
The city's department of Housing Preservation and Development provided the following statement:
"The City is committed to buildings deeply affordable housing in the Bronx and across NYC -- first and foremost for the people who need it the most. There's no question we need to build more, and we are fighting for the tools to do so. While this building may not be the right fit for everyone, there are thousands more homes available on Housing Connect right now that we encourage anyone in need of affordable housing to explore."
