9h agoCommunity leaders and local advocates came together on Monday for the launch of Aging Advocacy Day across New York City.
The citywide initiative kicked off outside of Bronx Borough Hall, as members of Live On NY and the Bronx community gathered to help fight for the protection of essential services for the city’s elderly population.
Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson joined the kick-off. Aging Advocacy Day comes as some advocates say critical programs and services for New York City’s older residents are being slashed in this year’s proposed fiscal budget, such as adult center funding and home-delivered services.
Those outside of Bronx Borough Hall say that they plan to continue their fight on behalf of elderly New Yorkers next week outside of City Hall.
