Authorities are still searching for clues after two newborn babies were found dead last week in the Bronx.

Two cones remain in the exact spots the super of 1460 College Ave. found the newborn boys around 10 days ago. One was wrapped in paper and the other was in a bag.

Detective Brianna Constantino, of Bronx Homicide, and Officer Shamika Thomas, of the 44th Precinct Detective Squad, have spent countless hours in and around the building since. They have been interviewing neighbors, sifting through every piece of garbage and eyeing anything new from the day before.

Bronx Homicide has created a taskforce specifically for this case to work with the 44th precinct.

At this stage in the investigation, they do not have any leads on who or where the mother of the babies is and they need the public's help.

"It's very important we talk to the mother, because she might be a victim of a crime and we don't have the full story," Constantino says. "It's possible she's in pain, she needs someone to speak to and first and foremost, she might need medical attention."

The detectives say area hospitals have no record of a woman coming in to seek care after childbirth— and they expanded that search to Westchester and New Jersey.

As another day passes, Constantino and Thomas say their minds and hearts are on those newborns.

"We're doing everything in our power, but we need the community's help to be their voice," says Officer Shamika Thomas.

Detectives say not one tip has come in through the Crime Stoppers hotline regarding this case. They ask anyone who knows anything, no matter how big or small the detail is, to call 1-800-577-TIPS.
