Basketball players want hoop replaced in Echo Park
Some community members want the city to fix a broken basketball hoop at Echo Park on Valentine Avenue.
Residents say a rim of one of the hoops has been missing for at least three months after someone broke it during a game. It hasn't been replaced, and the two hoops that do remain at the park are unstable and without nets.
News 12 spotted fliers announcing a meeting last December with the city's Parks Department regarding possible improvements at the park, but nothing has been done in the interim.
A Parks Department spokesperson tells News 12: "We are looking into the current condition of the basketball hoops at Echo Park. Once assessed, Parks will address accordingly."
