A Bronx attorney who has helped community members claiming unlawful arrests is now sharing that same vital information he's given his clients with the public.
Royce Russell is working to have less unlawful arrests, specifically with people of color. He wrote a book called "Cardiac Arrest."
"I think it's time that we stop worrying about how we can change the police force training their tactics and start to focus on the community on how we can protect ourselves how we can educate ourselves," said Russell.
Russell says that by staying composed, you can better grasp what is going on. He says that information will help in legal matters later on.
He also says another key is to listen and to have emergency contacts memorized.
"I think despite what people say New Yorkers are concerned citizens, so if you yell out to someone 'please call my mother' and gave her number, someone would do that when they see controversy or when they see wrongdoing," said Russell.
