Wai Law is running to raise money and awareness in memory of Ruben Almodovar, the father of his longtime friend who passed away from Parkinson’s disease.
The Bethpage resident plans to drive to Buffalo on Friday and start running from the Empire State Trail to Battery Park in New York City.
He is raising funds for the Thomas Hartman Center for Parkinson's Research at Stony Brook University.
His goal this year is to complete 555 miles in about 10 days unassisted, while pushing a baby jogging stroller filled with supplies and light camping gear.
Donations are accepted.
