About 150 immigrants from Brooklyn boarded buses bound for Washington Wednesday in an effort to protect Dreamers from being deported from the country.

They will join thousands of other people at the country's capital and call on Congress to pass a clean Dream Act for permanent residency and for temporary protected status holders before the end of the year.

Earlier this year, young people with deferred action for childhood arrivals were told they would begin to lose their status because of President Donald Trump’s decision to end the program.

They say that every day Congress delays, more people are in danger of being deported.

"We hope that especially during the holiday season that our folks in Washington and Congress understand that all we are asking for is to be sure that our families are protected and our families have the opportunity to be together," co-organizing director Jose Lopez  says. 

The buses are expected to arrive in DC around 12 p.m.
