Bob Saget's death has put focus on the significance of head trauma now that has family confirmed his cause of death.
Dr. Helen Valsamis spoke to News 12 to provide insight on what symptoms to pay attention to after a head injury.
"A very small blow to the head might not necessarily mean you have to come to the hospital but a significant blow to the same place would," says Valsamis.
As for symptoms to pay attention to, Valsamis says that if the person appears to be drowsy and not alert that it can be a sign of a much more serious head injury.
"Vomiting, a headache and vomiting after head trauma do not mean stomach problem," said Valsamis. "If they're starting to get drowsy and not respond properly, that's a cause for immediate concern."
If you feel any symptoms after hitting your head, it is advised you seek medical attention.
