A Bronx cafe is putting an emphasis on its southern Italian roots.
With over 15 different varieties of pasta, all made fresh according to owner Mike Demaj, AcriCafe on Commerce Avenue brings a lot of flavor to the table.
The restaurant, bar and lounge also serves up a variety of seafood dishes, including shellfish linguine and spicy fra diavolo.
Some of their other popular dishes include a rib eye steak with peppercorn brandy sauce.
The chefs are all straight from Italy, Demaj says, and they make pizza inside a brick oven that looks similar to the hot pies served in Calabria.
The restaurant's name was inspired in part by one of the chefs who comes from the Calabrian town of Acri.
