Two brothers are hoping their documented efforts will push city officials to fix a problematic road in Pelham Bay.
James and Tommy Breen say they want officials to completely fix the issues that they say are plaguing Shore Road.
"Shore Road has major flooding problems," says Tommy Breen. "Especially when we get heavy rain, like two days ago. There's nowhere for the water to go and it's very dangerous."
The brothers have been documenting the problems for the past few years, pleading local officials to do something about it.
"We have gotten a lot of short term improvements," says James Breen. "We've seen some results but now we want to see the final solution. We want to see this road reconstructed."
City Councilman Mark Gjonaj agrees changes need to be made.
"This is a main thoroughfare," Gjonaj says. "It connects the Bronx to Westchester. Historians have traced this back for over 150 years that this was a flood zone area. The constant repairing of Shore Road, rather than addressing the underlying issue, is one that doesn't spend tax payer dollars wisely."
The brothers say the road is full of areas that are submerged in water, even when it doesn't rain. They say fixing the road should be a priority to officials.
