The IHOP off Bruckner Boulevard in the Bronx was just one of the many restaurants in New York thanking veterans with a free meal Wednesday.
Ruth Figueroa said she enjoyed the restaurants' show of support, and she can't help but think about her time spent overseas serving in the U.S. Air Force.
She said being a part of the team was the most incredible experience she's ever had. Figueroa said her husband is currently stationed in the Middle East while also serving in the Air Force.
Bronx resident Julio Velasco, who previously served in the Army, stopped by the restaurant after his shift at the post office to enjoy some red, white and blue pancakes.
He said he is thankful for businesses who show their appreciation toward veterans.
Other businesses extended a special thank you to all of those who have served in the military, including Applebee's, Denny's and Olive Garden. Starbucks also helped the men and women of the Armed Forces add a caffeine jolt to their day with a free tall coffee.
